Senate Republicans proved that you can balance California’s budget without raising taxes. For weeks the Governor and the Democrats maintained it couldn't be done. The Republicans' plan did just that. Senate Republican Leader Dave Cogdill, joined by Senators George Runner and Bob Dutton, Assembly Republican Leader Mike Villines and Assemblyman Roger Niello put forth a spending proposal that funded education, did not borrow money from local government or transportation and did not raise taxes.
The Howard Jarvis Tax Payers Association praised the plan as a “realistic balanced budget with no new taxes” The Contra Costa Times reported “Republican lawmakers on Saturday answered Democrats' challenge to produce their own plan to solve the overdue state budget, relying on deep cuts and borrowing.” [READ MORE] |
